Baggett year: Goals

I’m super lucky to be a Baggett Fellow in the Linguistics Department at UMD this year. I’m working with Bill Idsardi and Ellen Lau. This is an amazing opportunity: all my time is dedicated to research and finding out what I love to do. My objectives for the year are as follows:

  • Learn how to design, run, and analyze EEG and MEG experiments
  • Apply to graduate schools and grants
  • Run experiments on syntactic predictions & attention to men’s/women’s voices
  • Continue exploring cases of ambiguous neutralization
  • Continue documenting and sharing cases of quantifiable gender bias in academia
    • Subgoal: learn how to develop a Shiny app to further the goal of sharing this information
  • Learn as much as I can related to cognition, language, and data analysis
  • Develop the habit of writing consistently throughout the workweek, not bingeing
